Pacific Crossing Announces Further PC-1 Upgrade

Pacific Crossing, an NTT Communications Corporation company and operator of the transpacific submarine cable system PC-1, has further upgraded the capacity and enhanced its Ethernet service offering on its infrastructure in order to match continual growth in demand for its services. The newly added capacity came into service at the end of July. A third upgrade of the PC-1 system is scheduled for later in 2010.

AT&T to Increase Capacity with Major Upgrade of APCN2

AT&T has announced the planned expansion of its network capacity for the Asia Pacific region through the upgrade of the APCN2, of which AT&T is part of the ownership group. The fourfold rise in capacity in the state-of-the-art dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) cable will increase the original design capacity from the existing 10Gb/s DWDM to 40Gb/s expansion. This represents one of the world’s large-scale upgrade of a major undersea cable network.
