CAT Telecom plans to focus on delivering Internet of Things (IoT) services in Thailand.

The one-time monopoly international carrier, formerly known as the Communications Authority of Thailand, recently announced the IoT initiative, according to The Nation

In part to support bandwidth demands from the growing IoT market, The Nation reports that CAT Telecom will invest next year in a new, regional submarine cable system.  It says that the cable will connect Thailand to China, Malaysia, Cambodia and countries in the Asia Pacific Region.

It is not clear from the report which system this might be, but we will be watching for further announcements from the Asia Pacific region, which already is the most active geographic region for new submarine cable projects.
