Ningbo Orient Wires & Cables has won a CNY180 million (USD27 million) contract to supply and lay 35-kilovolt submarine cables for an offshore wind farm in Guangdong province, its second successful bid to supply power lines for the project.

Three Gorges, which runs the 300 megawatt power plant, accepted its bid after Ningbo Orient announced earlier this month that it had won the engineering, procurement and construction tender for the wind farm’s 220-kilovolt underwater cables.

Three Gorges began building the plant in Yangjiang in November. It is slated to enter operation late next year with fifty-five 5.5 megawatt turbines. The operator forecasts annual generation capacity at around 827 million kilowatt-hours.
