Draft Oregon Legislation Requires Assurances for New Cables

In the aftermath of problems with the installation of the Jupiter transpacific cable in Oregon, a state legislator has proposed a bill that would require “owners or operators of undersea fiber optic telecommunication cables to obtain financial assurances and create plan for removal of cable.” 

FCC: HK-G License Application Withdrawn

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has been notified that the parties behind the Hong Hong-Guam (HKG) submarine fiber optic cable are withdrawing their application for a landing license.
