NKT

NKT grew into an offshore wind cable powerhouse following its acquisition of ABB’s submarine power cable business in 2016.  As can be seen in the graphs below, which include ABB’s awards, NKT’s new business was very steady between 2014 and 2017, then exploded following the ABB acquisition in 2018.

NKT was particularly successful in Northern Europe in 2018 and its contracts include some of the largest offshore wind farms in the UK and Germany, such as Hornsea-2, Moray East, Triton Knoll, Inch Cape and Ostwind-2.

With its acquisition of ABB’s submarine power cable business, NKT also gained a new cable laying vessel, the Victoria.  The ship, which was under construction at the time of the acquisition, was delivered to NKT in April 2017.
